Data & AI Architect #LI-Hybrid

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Data & AI Architect to join our international Group Technology organization.

In this role, you will be responsible for designing and technically leading new and enhancing existing data & AI solutions, making sure they run in a robust and performant manner. Solutions will be designed for both local and global customers, working mostly with cloud-based solutions in both AWS and Azure.

You will proactively expand your expertise in both existing and new functionalities, along with best practices in the data and AI space, applying these learnings in your daily job.

Your role
As a Data & AI Architect, your main responsibilities will involve: 

• Design end-to-end solution architectures (As-Is and To-Be) for data and AI products, platforms, and projects
• Evaluate architecture options and technology choices against established standards and patterns
• Reuse existing components, patterns, and platform services to ensure consistency and accelerate delivery
• Provide architectural guidance for data and AI use cases
• Collaborate with product, project, and platform teams to ensure solutions are scalable and aligned with enterprise standards
• Contribute to Architecture Board reviews and architecture decision processes
• Translate high-level designs into detailed technical specifications to support implementation
• Assess architecture impacts of proposed changes, including risks, dependencies, and downstream effects
• Provide effort estimations for architecture activities to support planning and prioritisation
• Produce and maintain architecture documentation, including Architecture Specification Documents (ASDs)
• Contribute to the definition and evolution of architecture patterns, standards, and best practices
• Ensure alignment with IT approval processes and governance requirements
• Participate in architecture communities and cross-functional collaboration forums

Your Skills and Experience

As a Data & AI Architect, your skills and experience will ideally include:

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience architecting data & AI solutions.
• Data modelling experience with techniques such as 3rd normal form, data vault and dimensional modelling.
• Experience with data pipeline tools, especially one or more of Azure Data Factory, SSIS, Informatica, Databricks, Snowflake and AWS Glue.
• Database and lake experience with one or more of Azure SQL, DB2, Azure Data Lake, Databricks lakehouse, Snowflake, AWS RDS or similar.
• Azure and/or AWS experience.
• Knowledge of CI/CD.
• Excellent English and communication skills.

Nice to have:

• Knowledge of APIs
• Knowledge of reporting tools such as Power BI
• Knowledge of languages such as Python, Scala and SQL
• Having experience in insurance industry
• Knowledge of Infrastructure as code solutions such as Terraform
• Knowledge of containers and container orchestration such as AKS / EKS
• Experience with AWS Bedrock Agentcore and/or Azure AI Foundry

We offer

Compensation for roles at Zurich depends on a wide array of factors including but not limited to the specific role, skill set, level of experience, and subject to applicable law. Zurich thus provides a range of compensation aligned to internal job architecture and market benchmarks to ensure fair and consistent pay for comparable roles. The starting base salary range for this position is 3 700 Eur.
